ISSA Egypt: Sculptures in the New Capital

After 20 days, Egypt La Vista International Sculpture Symposium concluded in the New Capital. A total of 17 sculptors from 9 countries and regions participated in the event.

To relieve congestion in Cairo, the Egyptian government decided to build the New Capital in the desert east of its current one. On 700 square kilometers total area, the New Capital is projected to have an estimated population of 6.5 million, and it will be one of the the largest city in the African desert. Mohamed Hemida, associate member of ISSA and the head of Ostraca Art Institute, organized the sculpture symposium in the New Capital, as large scale  public sculpture is an indispensable part of city planning.


The material for the symposium is three-meters-tall limestone. And the participating sculptors are:
