PVISS – Puerto Vallarta International Sculpture Symposium

The First Puerto Vallarta International Sculpture Symposium, organized by Carole Turner and Dana O’Donnell, took place in 2010 with sculptors from Spain, South Korea, Australia, Scotland, Mexico, and United States.  Thanks to the support and encouragement of Puerto Vallarta Mayor Salvador Gonzalez Resendiz, and the Puerto Vallarta Department of Art and Culture, the sculptors were given special permission to carve their stone sculptures on the Malecon, the famous promenade next to the Pacific Ocean, in the center of the city.  The city embraced the symposium, and the artists worked in front of an audience of residents and tourists every day.

At the conclusion of the symposium, the sculptures were installed on the grounds of the Puerto Vallarta campus of the University of Guadalajara CUCosta, under the auspices of the Peter Gray Museum.
