"The Association organizes international sculpture workshops inviting and hosting known foreign artists to Cyprus and participating at international workshops abroad. It plans to extend its activities in other fine art sectors, such as in painting and ceramics. Furthermore, the Association in cooperation with The International Association for Monumental Sculpture Events (ΑΙΕSM, http://www.aiesm.com/homepage-2-en.asp ) organizes Monumental Sculpture Symposia in various districts of Cyprus and participates at international symposia with Cypriot artists. During these Symposia, the Association organizes discussions on the various art trends and the developments around monumental sculpture. International Sculpture Symposia is in cooperation with the local governments.
The Association organizes International Sculpture Symposia in cooperation with various local authorities and municipalities of Cyprus, with the participation of artists from various foreign countries with the aim of creating Sculpture Parks in public and municipal spaces in an effort to promote art education among the population at large and to improve the landscape of our towns and communities.
Until now, the Association has organized two International Symposia at the workshop maintained by the Association’s Art Director at Agia Varvara village. Certain of the best monumental sculptures created at these symposia embellish the Association’s multiuse space at Latsia, Nicosia. Two symposia have been organized in cooperation with the Polis Chrysohous Municipality, two with the Polemidia Municipality and one with the Nicosia municipality. The artifacts created during these symposia have been placed at various public parks and other public spaces. A number of monumental sculptures are hosted at the Sculpture Park of Geri Municipality. In addition, six international sculpture workshops with the participation of 24 sculptors from 16 countries have been organized in Cyprus and the created sculptures are exhibited at the Gallery at the Association’s Latsia Multiuse Space."
The organizer of International Cyprus Symposium is the Association of the Friends of Fine Art, and its art director is the Cyprian sculptor Christos Lanitis.
