International Stone Symposium "Music in Stone"

The First International Sculpture Symposium, entitled “Music in stone”, took place in Baku from 24 September to 2 October 2016, within the framework of the 7th International “Maiden Tower” Festival, with the organizational support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation.  

Sculptors were provided with workshops and all necessary stock, and based on the sketches chosen by the symposium organizers beforehand, art works were created,  later to adorn a park zone of Baku. The organizer did not constrain the sculptors within the framework of one topic, giving them the freedom of self-expression, while requiring to follow the basic conditions – the works will be displayed in the open air.   

The Symposium is scheduled to be held annually in order to create a sculptural park – a museum in the open air, which will accommodate works of best contemporary sculptors.
