In May, the public outreach program ISSA Talk, initiated by the International Sculpture Symposium Alliance
(ISSA), conducted a nationwide lecture tour across six cities in Bolivia, including visits to three universities
and multiple television media outlets. This marks the first time the Alliance has carried out a multi-city lecture
tour within a single country.
During one week in early May, the chief speaker of ISSA Talk and ISSA Secretary-General, Liu Yang, accompanied
by ISSA Bolivia Commissioner Luis Fernando Chumacero Gutierrez, delivered a series of lectures in six cities:
Tupiza, Potosí, Uyuni, La Paz, Cochabamba, and Santa Cruz.

The tour included engagements at several professional institutions, such as the Tupiza Art School, the Potosí
Academy of Arts, and the Carrera de Artes of the Universidad Mayor de San Andrés. In addition, lectures and
interviews were conducted with public media outlets, including La Paz Television, Tupiza Television, and VA
Media in Cochabamba.
During the visit, the delegation also met with the Mayor of Tupiza, the Vice Minister of Culture of Bolivia, and
visited the studios of several prominent local artists.
This nationwide lecture tour has significantly promoted the development of sculpture symposiums in Bolivia
and across South America, while also providing a valuable high-level learning opportunity for the country’s
sculpture community.
