ISSA Holds South Asia and Southeast Asia Alliance Development Meeting to Promote the Growth of Sculpture Symposia in the Region

On September 14, during the China–South Asia and Southeast Asia Sculpture Exhibition held at the Xi’an 

Academy  of Fine Arts, the International Sculpture Symposium Alliance (ISSA) met with artists from 10 South 

Asian and  Southeast Asian countries to hold a meeting on the development of ISSA in South Asia and

 Southeast Asia.

At present, ISSA includes 160 sculpture symposia from 70 countries. Southeast Asia, with more than a dozen 

countries,  a population of 700 million, and an economy entering a period of rapid growth, remains largely blank

 in  the field of  sculpture symposia.

At this meeting, ISSA Secretary-General Liu Yang introduced the development of ISSA around the world to 

artist  representatives from China, South Korea, Singapore, Thailand, Myanmar, Vietnam, India, Nepal, 

Bangladesh, and   Sri Lanka, and proposed plans to establish an ISSA South Asia Center and an ISSA Southeast 

Asia Center, in order to  promote the development of sculpture symposium activities in these regions.

In addition, the participants also discussed Alliance projects such as ISSA-Media and ISSA-YOUTH.
