The sculptor spoke at Chinese Academy of Sciences

On March 14, 2019, Liu Yang, sculptor and General Secretary of ISSA, gave a speech at Chinese Academy of Sciences at the invitation of National Geography.

Laughter and applause continued at the speech. Liu Yang brought the story of sculpture to the scientific community in a popular and humorous way, which made people understand the relatively unfamiliar field of sculpture and a very different way of life. To listen to the speech, there are a lot of researchers from the Chinese Academy of Sciences who are old and rare. This shows that the influence of sculpture is expanding.

National Geography of China is a magazine on geographic science. It is sponsored by Institute of Geographic Science and Resources, Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chinese Geographic Society. It is the most authoritative and influential magazine of natural and human geography, tourism and exploration in China. Sculpture is an artistic form of expression, like Liu Yang, walking around the world to create sculptures, including travel and creation. During his journey, Liu Yang had a new understanding of the geography, humanities and history involved in different countries, bringing out Chinese culture while bringing back the cultures of other countries. In the creation, different materials in different places involve different ways of shaping, and are closely related to science and technology. Therefore, the speeches of sculptors in Chinese Academy of Sciences are not only cross-border, but also have many intersections. After all, science is everywhere.

Before this speech, Liu Yang also gave some speechs in some travel and outdoor fields, sharing his story of walking around the world and making sculptures. It is the responsibility of a sculptor and a speaker to promote sculpture in different fields.
