The fourth International Stone Symposium—“Music in Stone”, has recently concluded in Baku, Azerbaijan. This year, the symposium commemorated the 650 anniversary of the great Azerbaijani poet and philosopher Imadaddin Nasimi. It was part of the Nasimi festival, a cultural event which also included concerts and art installations.
There were eleven participating sculptors from eight countries, including Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bulgaria, China, Iran, Latvia, Romania, and Russia. The sculptures were completed at the Museum of Archaeology and Ethnography in Baku.
The symposium was hosted by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation. The foundation is named after Azerbaijan’s former leader, and its current president is Mehriban Aliyeva, the First Lady, as well as the First Vice-president of Azerbaijan.
The International Stone Symposium—“Music in Stone” started in 2016 and became a member of ISSA in 2017.
