Oman and Kuwait Joins ISSA

Recently, two symposiums located in the Arabian Peninsula joins the International Sculpture Symposium Alliance (ISSA). Representing Kuwait and Oman, they are Kuwait International Sculpture Symposium, and Sohart Sculpture Symposium. Including the new members, there are a total of eight Arab countries represented in ISSA. The rest of the countries are Egypt, Tunisia, Morocco, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, and Syria.

Sohart Sculpture Symposium is organized by young sculptors, headed by Ali Al Jabri. The Symposium started in 2014, and holds events every January. Not only does Sohart Sculpture Symposium establish a platform of discourse between international sculptors, it also provides local art students lessons in sculpture and calligraphy from experienced artists.

The designated material of the first symposium was wood, while stone and metal are in the plans to be included in future symposiums. The organizer of Kuwait International Sculpture Symposium is Fahad Al-Hajeri.
