Sculpture Symposium in the Holy City

The first ever Hebron Sculpture Symposium was held from August 2nd to 20th in the Hebron, a Palestinian city on the West Bank. Due to the pandemic, all nine invited artists came from within the country. The material used for the symposium was domestically sourced limestone.

Jews, Christians, and Muslims all venerate Hebron for its association with Abraham: it includes the Cave of the Patriarchs, which according to tradition is the burial site of the biblical Patriarchs and Matriarchs. Judaism ranks Hebron the second-holiest city after Jerusalem, while some Muslims regard it as one of the four holy cities.
