Recently, Hitoshi Tanaka, Japanese member of the International Sculpture Symposium Alliance ISSA, received the 2022 Miyazaki Prefectural cultural prize of this year. Another person who also received the award was Honorary Professor Minoru Okabayashi of Miyazaki University.
Miyazaki Prefecture selected Minoru Okabayashi (80), professor emeritus of Miyazaki University, and sculptor Hitoshi Tanaka (73) among the recipients of this year's Miyazaki Prefectural Cultural prize for 2022. the award-giving ceremony was held at the Miyazaki Prefectural Office on November 8. Hitoshi Tanaka is a leading figure in outdoor sculpture, and as an ISSA Japan member, promotes the town's sculpture project locally, and has also built many public sculptures in Japan and abroad. Not long ago, he published a collection of works that contributed to the development of culture in Miyazaki Prefecture.
Miyazaki Prefecture, located on the island of Kyushu, is one of Japan's leading tourist destinations and is known as an "international conference destination". The Miyazaki Prefectural Cultural Award has five sections. Tanaka received the award for the cultural services section.
