The mayor of kusadasi, the host city of the 4th neopolis International Sculpture Symposium 2023, has been honored as an honorary member of ISSA, the International Sculpture Symposium Alliance. The ceremony took place in October at the city hall.
International Sculpture Symposium Alliance world's largest international sculpture organization, with nearly 60 countries, 130 branches, neopolis international sculpture symposium has joined the ISSA since 2021. In order to recognize all sectors of society to support the cause of sculpture, the alliance awarded title of honorary member for non-sculptors who have made outstanding contributions to the sculpture.
The current honorary members include the Egyptian Minister of Culture, the President of the Republic of Chuvash, the President of the Surikov Academy of Fine Arts and so on. Mayor Omar was awarded because in his support, neopolis international sculpture symposium was held successfully 4 timesin this famous tourist city, let people know sculpture better.
Mayor omar said in this year's opening ceremony that cities, especially tourist cities, should flourish with art. There were 228 artists who applied for this sculpture symposium and finally 12 artists got this opportunity and these works will be displayed on our shores.
Kuşadası is one of the pioneer cities in Turkey to become an art capital. Ibrahim Museum of Fine Arts, which is also located in kuşadası, was restored in 2009 and nowadays it organizes more than 400 events every year.Kuşadası is one of the most important tourist centers in Turkey and the third largest port in Turkey. Therefore, kuşadası holds an important position in international cruise tourism.
