The seventh Bords de Vire Festival and ISSA France, is held June 10-28 in the small French city of Saint-Lô,
was attended by all female sculptors, including Ramona Bachtiger (Switzerland), ChloéCoomans (Belgium),
Olena Dodatko (Ukraine), Zoya Ivanova Lenkova (Bulgaria) and Coralie Quincey (France).
The Bords de Vire Festival began in 2012 with the aim of re an artistic and environmental journey through
the creation of installations on site, which are dispersed along the greenways of Bords de Vire. Since 2018,
in order to perpetuate this route in the Normandy countryside, the organizing institution, Usine Utopik
Center for Contemporary Creation, has chosen to permanently install a number of sculptures along
the roadside. The 23 sculptures installed here currently form the 25-kilometer route between Tessy Bocage
and Gourfaleur. To keep this artistic journey alive all year round, the Usine Utopik team offers tours by
appointment throughout the year.
The host institution, Usine Utopik Center for Contemporary Creation, is a platform for artistic research and
experimentation, and will have visual artists from around the world in residence. Located in Tessy Bocage,
the Center for Contemporary Creation, whose founder is Xavier Gonzalez, the France member of the ISSA,
offers a large workspace in a privileged environment that allows artists to work on specific projects or to
conduct personal research.Usine Utopik organizes cultural events that include exhibitions, sculpture
symposiums, workshops, educational activities and so on.
