ISSA Italy \ Marble Sculptures in the Alps

The first Vinschgau kristallin International Marble Sculpture Symposium, and ISSA Italy, took place

in South Tyrol, in the northern Italian Alps. In addition to the sculptures left by artists from six countries,

four other German artists created audio-visual works.

The Vinschgau kristallin International Marble Sculpture Symposium was jointly organized by the two

South Tyrolean cities of Laas and Schlanders, and the six completed sculptures were also situated in

the train stations of both cities. In addition to the local authorities, the two marble companies Laas and

Göflan, together with the Schlanders-Laas Tourism Association and other cooperators, Karin Meister was

in charge of the project, and the team of Ernst-Ludwig Kolt, Mary Zischg and TOBEL was responsible for

the execution.

Over the course of three weeks, the artists created and produced incredible works of art and organized

many different events: a visit to the marble mines, a local photo contest, and an evening of folk music.
