ISSA Algeria\Sculpture Symposium in the Land of the Sahara Desert

The first International Sculpture Symposium in Algeria, and the Algerian leg of ISSA, was held in the resort town of 

Bezralda, on the Algerian coast, from April 26 to May 8, with the participation of sculptors from 19 countries. 


This international event was organized by the Algerian Ministry of Culture and Arts, and the symposium was visited 

on several occasions by the Minister, who consistently and emphatically emphasized the importance of State support 

for the arts as a means of preserving the national identity and enhancing Algeria's cultural influence regionally and 

globally.

The theme of the event, "Memory", was carved out of high-quality Algerian marble, and the Sonaremkuan Group was 

the material sponsor for the event, which it supported by supplying blocks of marble known for their strength, 

durability and natural beauty, which added a profoundly national character and affirmed the investment potential 

of the event. the potential of the investment. 


At the closing ceremony of the event, the Minister of Culture, Zouhier Balalou, officially announced that the sculpture 

symposium would become an annual event, providing a regular opportunity for the exchange of artistic experiences 

and visions between Algeria and the world. It was also announced that an "open-air sculpture museum" would be 

created to provide a permanent space for sculpture in public life.
